Rewiring The Sennheiser PMX200
Monday, October 05, 2009

Here’s more how-to guides from me.

Thanks to Bing Ru getting his wires snagged all over the place, I managed to get one with a broken jack from him.

Rewiring is actually a rather simple job. Easier than making the mini USB in my earlier post.

First, look around the headphones for screws and access points such as this.

Secondly, unscrew the panel and take it apart like this.

Third step. Remove the circuit board and de-solder the main cables making sure not to damage the board.

Next, Solder on the new wires taking care not to short any of them.

After you’re done, insert the sleeve and make sure you mark the other end of the wires correctly. Then put the casing back on.

After you’re done. Solder the other end of the wire to the respective points on the headphone jack. Screw the jack shut and test it. Be sure to test the left and right channels to ensure that they are not reversed.

The end result is this!

Finally a last thank you to Bing Ru for passing me the PMX200 to play with.
